A14 exhibition Dec 08 Print

A14 Upgrade Update

There are to be two new exhibitions (location and times below) with the latest information on the plans and designs for the A14 Upgrade. We would encourage you to attend one of these locations, as you will be able to see much more detail than at the previous roadshow in Hilton. We are told you will be able to view documents showing estimated noise levels in Hilton, along with information on screening and road junctions and see just how close this road will be to the village.

As currently designed, the road will have a major impact on our community. The A14 Action Group recently met with Highways Agency and does have serious concerns about the proposals.

  • The layout is likely to encourage even more traffic along Potton Road and Graveley Way.
  • We are concerned that the local traffic patterns will be altered to the disadvantage of residents.
  • The current scheme provides inadequate visual screening of the road for Hilton.
  • The design offers wholly inadequate protection against the anticipated increased level of traffic noise.
  • We remain unconvinced that enough consideration has been given to the protection of our environment.

Residents are urged to attend the exhibitions and to provide their comments to the Highways Agency, your elected representatives and the Parish Council. To ensure we remain in touch with the village, the A14 Action Group will be holding an open meeting in the Chapel at 8:00pm on Wednesday 10 December to discuss residents’ views with the aim of making appropriate representation at the follow-on Public Enquiry.
