Feast Week 2009

Summer Grand Draw

With Feast Week almost upon us an army, well a ‘band of Committee members & Friends of Feast Week’ will soon be knocking on your door and giving you the opportunity to help support this wonderful village event by buying a Summer Grand Draw Ticket.

With odds considerably more favourable than the National Lottery, £5 pounds not only gives you a chance of winning the fantastic top prize of £250! Just as importantly it helps contribute toward the running costs of Feast Week.

I can’t stress enough what an essential part of the annual fundraising drive these ticket sales are. So, even if you can’t join us at Feast Week this year please do your part to make it another successful year by buying a ticket or two? And help us to put on Feast Week next year.

If you want a ticket(s)? And haven’t yet had a visit by a ticket seller over the next fortnight? Then please contact: Peter Balicki (831787) or Justo Perez (831106) or Sara Sampson (830383) and we’ll arrange to get you one.

Float Building
Feast Week wouldn’t be the same without the Sunday’s ‘Produce Show’ & ‘Float Procession’ two finer examples of the skill, creativity, energy and community spirit that makes Feast Week what it is you couldn’t hope to find.

With the clock ticking down this is a gentle reminder encouraging one and all to rally to the this year’s theme of ‘Great Britons’ and start creating the floats and costumes that year on year amuse, dazzle and impress the crowds.

If your street/area isn’t building a float? Then don’t be shy, seek out those that are and offer to help? It’s a great way to meet new people in the village and is loads of fun, trust me there’s not much that beats the satisfaction of rolling up to the green with the smell of fresh paint still in your nostrils just before the off! It will provide you with some wonderful memories of driving through the village and receiving the cheers and good wishes from your fellow Hiltonians for years to come.

Volunteering

Hilton Feast Week needs you!

That’s right this special village event requires the goodwill, time and help of=2 0many volunteers for it to happen.

‘Many hands make light work’ so the saying goes, and this is the case with Feast Week. You don’t have to ‘sign your life away’ or miss out on all the fun, all we need from you is a hour here or 30 minutes there?

Sunday Clear Up / Take Down – Over the last two years Steve Wilson has organised a great approach to clearing up on a Sunday and taking down the equipment. A ‘rolling volunteer workforce’ that can give Feast Week an ‘hour here and an hour there’ works perfectly. You won’t be standing around, and you won’t be made to feel guilty if you need to head off after you’ve done your hour. The more the merrier, we blitzed through it last year, were all but done by 2pm having started at 9

Please contact: Peter Balicki (831787) or Justo Perez (831106) or Sara Sampson (830383)

Craig Sutherland is our ‘BBQ Czar’ and would like to hear from anyone that can help out flipping burgers! Full on the job training will be given by Craig and lessons in banter. Please contact Craig on (tel number to follow)

John Platt and ‘Bar Crew’ will never turn down a willing volunteer to help pull the countless pints and glasses of wine we all get through. There is always a great atmosphere behind the bar, I’ve tried it and can tell you it’s tremendous fun! Please contact John Platt on (tel no to follow)
