What Is A SureStart Children’s Centre?

Children’s Centres are a new way of supporting families with children under 5. By the end of 2008 there will be a children’s centre base on the Pendragon school site in Papworth Everard. You’ll be able to drop by and find someone to welcome and help you.
The children’s centre reach area covers the villages of Papworth Everard, Elsworth, Hilton, Fenstanton and Fen Drayton. The children’s centre may run some activities in venues in these places. All families with children under 5 will be welcome.
Children’s centres offer easier access to health and family support, help with finding jobs and training, drop-in sessions and activities and information about local childcare and early education.
In Cambridgeshire, some children’s centres are already open. There are 22 new children’s centres planned to open across the county by 2008 and by 2010 all communities should have access to the services of a local children’s centre.
