SCARECROW COMPETITION
Do you remember a couple of years ago and the Queen’s 80th Birthday Celebrations – Hilton Villagers rose to the challenge and produced some fantastic scarecrows.
The Hilton Village Hall Committee decided to throw down the gauntlet again and see if you could do even better this year!! Hilton Feast Week Committee are organising a Village Jamboree Day on Sunday May 11th with a programme full of fun and entertainment for family and friends – and the Scarecrows are a very important part of this Village event.
If you need inspiration (click here to see the entries from last time) – remember the Feast Week theme this year is Book Characters – but you don’t have to follow this idea, all Scarecrows welcomed – as long as they are appropriately dressed ………… If you would like to book your space for your scarecrow/s, or get some advice and helpful tips, please ring either Deb Bridge (830157), Liz Bush (830202) or Emily Simmonds (831142) and we will make sure you are on THE MAP (click here). This is very important because if you are not on our master map you cannot be voted for.
This year we are adding a voting slip (1 per household) to our map of the village with the scarecrows marked on it and these votes will be counted at the end of the day and prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. There will also be a special trophy (the Lou King Trophy) awarded by the Hilton Village Hall Committee. So come on, if you made one last time, you will remember what fun it was and if you didn’t and kicked yourself afterwards for not having a go – you have the opportunity to show your friends and neighbours how creative you really are!!!!
Hopefully the website team will be kind enough to update the village scarecrow map daily and you will be able to see who’s registered, and who’s having a go and you can then get an idea of where your competition is lurking………….
Voting maps will be available on the day. We decided not to have a closing date for registration BUT do try and let us know by Friday 9th May if possible so that we can update the maps.
If I have forgotten any useful information or you are unsure about anything – please give Liz a ring on 830202.
ENTER NOW – I’ve put a few definite entries on the map already just to get you started …..
