THE HILTON A14 ACTION GROUP NewsletterNovember 2006 No 4The Offords were successful with their case for a Judicial Review. The Highways Agency settled out of court by agreeing to conduct a Further Consultation to deal with the original shortcomings. This Further consultation will cover the routing of the new A14 between Fen Drayton and Ellington and will include alternative routes. One such route would cross the Buckden landfill site and we expect this to be close to the original CHUMMs route. If this were selected it would fulfil a central of objective of the Hilton Action Group. The use of the landfill is an important practical and political issue that needs full critical exposure. THE CONSULTATION PERIODThe Further Consultation will run from 1st December 2006 to 9th March 2007. Every household should receive notification and information on the proposals, the Exhibitions to be held and how to comment. EXHIBITIONSThe Highways Agency will organise a series of Exhibitions in the area for people to see the proposals.. Hilton has one of the first Exhibitions. It will be held in the Village Hall on Friday 8th December from 2pm to 8pm. Please put this date in your diary and go along to see what the new options look like. There will be advisors there who should be able to explain the displays, answer your questions and tell you how you can submit your comments. As well as the route you may want to look at, and ask about, other impacts such as what will be done to reduce the effects of noise, visual intrusion, whether the road will be at ground level or raised, what might be the effect on flooding and traffic locally. . If you miss the Hilton Exhibition, or just want to have another look, the dates for other Exhibitions are: December 9th Offord Cluny Village Hall from 10 am until 4 pm; December 11th the Millenium Community Centre, Buckden from 12 noon until 8 pm; December 13th Hemingford Pavilion 12 noon until 8pm; Dec 14th Queen Elizabeth School Hall, Godmanchester, 12 noon until 8 pm; January 11th, the George in Huntingdon 12 noon – 8pm; January 12tt Fenstanton Church Centre from 12 noon until 8pm; January 13th Memorial Centre, Memorial Playing Fields, Brampton from 10:00 am until 4 pm. You can go along to any of these. VILLAGE MEETING: 12 DECEMBER, 8.00 pmThe week after the Hilton Exhibition, on Tuesday 12th December, there will be an open meeting organised jointly by Hilton Parish Council and the Hilton A14 Action Group at 8pm in the Methodist chapel. Please come along and let us know what you think of the new proposals and hear what your neighbours have to say. MAKE A DIFFERENCEThis Further Consultation has been hard won. This is another chance to say what you want and influence the Highways Agency decisions. These decisions are not foregone conclusions - we believe we can all make a difference especially in terms of exposing decisions on use of the landfill and influencing the detailed design as the road passes our village. Any of these could make a big difference to the impact on Hilton. It is really important that you submit your comments to the Highways Agency well before 9th March and preferably immediately after their Exhibition. It is also important you let the Parish Council know what you feel so that they can represent you.
