Parish Council Report October 2006: Hilton
A14 Consultation The legal action successfully undertaken by The Offords requires the Highways Agency to re-consult on the route of the proposed new A14. As part of this requirement, the Highways Agency recently advised that they are planning to hold another exhibition in Hilton during early December to give residents details of the potential routes and a further opportunity to comment. The Council hopes that residents will attend this exhibition and will make their views known to Councilors and in writing to the Highways Agency. In addition, a meeting had been arranged for 10 November between the A14 Action Group and Mr Djanogly MP as part of the campaign to get the best deal for Hilton. Traffic Through The Village Cllr Shardlow said that a further traffic survey was planned for November to consider just peak times, with a second full survey to be held at a future date but not before the Papworth Bypass has been finished. The Parish Council has also asked whether concerned residents would be prepared to volunteer to help address the problems caused by the traffic through the village and with the aim of seeking measures to ease the current problems. Please contact the clerk if you are interested. Village Hall Car Park The Clerk advised that a contract had been let with K J Terry for the installation of a new car park at the Village Hall. The contract was for £8,808.98 and it was hoped that the work would be finished before the end of the year. Updating the Village Web Site The web design team had offered to help “page owners” load data recognising that in some instances loading may not be entirely straightforward. Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Our MP, Mr Djanogly, had recently written to a wide range of organisations in his constituency asking them to raise a petition against proposals to close Hinchingbrooke Hospital and also to protest in writing to the Regional Health Authority. The Parish Council supports the petition and has agreed to place copies of the forms in key places around the village. Volunteers also agreed to approach households to sign the petition. The return of completed petition forms to Mr Djanogly would be undertaken by the Clerk. In addition, the Council urged residents to write to Dr Paul Watson at the East of England Strategic Authority, Victoria House Capital Park Fulbourne Cambs CB1 5XB (
