Eaton Socon III AwayFinal League match, vs Eaton Socon. Our bowlers began effectively, by taking the first eight wickets in 30 overs, but an unbeaten partnership of 83 for the ninth wicket left us having to chase 191 to win. It didn’t happen, despite some fine strokeplay by the Bruvvers Darlow and a gem of a coda by Tuddy at the close. Well done to Ashleigh Taylor (3 for 18) and Richard Ruddy (2 for 17) for their valuable bowling performances. And so we finally send those sweaty elasticated undergarments to the laundry as the season of the crushed metacarpal reluctantly gives way to that of the fractured metatarsal. Our club mathematicians have been issued with wet towels and ice-packs and instructions to calculate the averages in time for next month’s issue of Spectrum Cricket Supplement
