Parish Council Report July 2006

Hilton

The Parish Council passed a vote of thanks for the outgoing chairman, Graham Barradell, for his hard work and dedication over the previous four years.

A14 Consultation Process.  The Council noted that there had been some changes to the A14 Action Group committee and that the Group was currently seeking a replacement for the outgoing chairman, Jon Dooley.  The Parish Council has invited Fenstanton Parish Council to discuss a joint approach regarding those environmental issues which are common to both villages and likely to be affected by the Highways Agency A14 proposals.  Our other near neighbour, Hemmingford Abbotts, declined to join with this strategy.  The Council noted that the next stage of the legal challenge by The Offords had been set for 5 October 2006.

Planning Matters  It was a very busy month for planning aspects with nine applications being considered by the Parish Council.  Their recommendations were as follows:

a.   A New House at Punch’s Grove:  The Council recommended rejection of this proposal.
b.   Extension at Punch’s Grove:  The Council recommended this application be approved.
c.   Extension at 18 Potton Road:  The Council recommended approval of this application.
d.   Extension at 20 Scotts Crescent.  The Council recommended approval of this application.
e.   Conversion and New Flats at Dunroaming Church Lane.  The Parish Council recommended that this application be refused.
f.    Changes to Wychwood Church End.  This application was recommended for approval.
g.   Dormer Floor at 5 Mill Hill End.  The Council recommended refusal of this application.
h.   Garden Shed at 2 The Aisled Barns.  This application was recommended for refusal.
i.    Tractor Shed at The Grange.  This application was recommended for refusal by the Parish Council.

Traffic Through The Village  In order to gather more information about the traffic passing through the village on the B1040, the Parish Council undertook a vehicle count on Wednesday 12 July.  The results of the count will be advised when the data has been analyzed.  The Parish Council would like to thank all those who took part in the count as well as those that supported the team with refreshments etc.

Management of The Green.  The Parish Council believes that it might be helpful to give residents greater visibility of how The Green is managed.  This information will be provided over the coming months.
