Hilton Produce Show

The Hilton Feast Week Produce Show was introduced two years ago by the Hilton feast Week Committee of 2004 following a gap of over twenty years since a produce show was last held in the village. The purpose of this traditional event was to bring all age groups and members of the village together.

Whilst trophies and rosettes are awarded to villagers (in line with Feast Week policy) other participants are welcome and can win Highly Commended rosettes.

The event takes place on the opening day of Feast Week after the service at the Parish Church celebrating the Feast of St Mary Magdalene.  The show is staged in the big marquee on Hilton Village Green.

The Hilton Feast Week Produce Show is run by a small independent committee as described above. We meet once a month to plan the show, create the schedule and to write articles (like this) and write a monthly column in Spectrum magazine. Of course there is the preparation itself for the big day!

Entries in the second year topped 300 and there was the added incentive of the introduction of beautiful trophies:-

The Kathleen Hasler Rose Bowl – Most points in the show
The Hilton Town Trust Fruit Cup
The Hilton Town Trust Vegetable Cup
The Hilton Town Trust Flower Cup
The Hilton Town Trust Flower Arrangement Cup
The Hilton Women’s Institute Baking and Preserves Salver
The Alice Collen Cup – Children under 5 years
The Thomas Collen Cup – Children 5 to 8 years
The Jacob Collen Cup – Children 9 to 16 years
The Laidler Rose Trophy – Best rose

This year the event will take place on Sunday 23rd July; exact timings will be posted on this site, in Spectrum magazine and in the Feast Week Programme. We would like to make entry forms also available for down load and even accept entry direct by email to Ali Dunk.

If you have any queries or would like to help in any way please contact any of the committee members.

Happy gardening and baking on behalf of the Hilton Feast Week Produce Show Committee.
