Hilton Parish Plan TRANSPORT AND ACCESS Public transport 39. A relatively small, but potentially significant number of villagers said they had some difficulty getting to local amenities, such as hospitals and doctors' surgeries. Many felt that public transport is inadequate and there is a correspondingly heavy reliance (over 90%) on cars. B1040 Potton Road at the Church Lane/Chapel Close Junction
Traffic 40. No topic in the questionnaire aroused more passion than traffic through Hilton. It cropped up throughout responses to the questionnaire, including the 'Big Three Issues', and is clearly villagers' paramount concern. Speeding, the impact of heavy commercial vehicles, the dangerous crossroads and 'rat-running' were just a few of the subjects that prompted vociferous comment. There is also a widespread belief that these problems are in part caused, and are certainly exacerbated, by the inadequacies of the A14 road between Huntingdon and Cambridge.
