Huntingdonshire Geranium & Fuchsia Society

Geranium & Fuchsia Society

We meet in the Village Hall at 7.45pm, usually on the fourth Wednesday of each month (but avoiding Feast week and Christmas). Visitors and new members are always more than welcome. Car parking is of course absolutely no problem!

Our Society was founded in the autumn of 1987 by four local geranium (pelargonium) enthusiasts with the aims and objectives of promoting and encouraging the cultivation and showing of geraniums for the enjoyment of all members.

It was soon noticed that several members also grew fuchsias, and so in 1989 we included three fuchsia classes in our first ever Show. This proved popular, and to encourage wider membership, in December 1989 we included fuchsia growing into the Constitution of the Society.

Our Annual Geranium Show has been held each June since 1989, and 2006 will see a change, from a two-day event at a local garden centre, to a one-day Show in Hilton Village Hall on Sunday 25th June. This move will enable us to help fund the Society with the introduction of cream teas, a tombola and a plant stall.

In August 1992 we held our first Fuchsia Show at Hilton Village Hall, which was a great success, and the Fuchsia Shows have been held here ever since. This year's show will be on Sunday 13th August.

The Society's year runs from 1st January, when annual subscriptions are due. These are currently £7 for individual membership (or £10 for a couple). If you join after mid-year this also includes membership for the following year.
